Community Living Grant

The Arc of Snohomish County is pleased to announce that we are currently taking applications for the 2010 Community Living Fund. Last year $10,000 was awarded to 25 individuals with developmental disabilities and families with much needed items that helped them stay independent and active in their communities. Here are some following examples of items and services that were awarded:

  • Fence repair to improve child safety
  • Wheelchair ramp/home modification
  • Rent Deposit
  • Basic home furnishings
  • Project Lifesaver GPS bracelets

The goal of this funding is to provide items that are outside the scope of the financial abilities of the individual or family.  In addition, the requested items must be directly related to promoting and maintaining independence in the community.

Funding requests may not exceed the amount of $1000.00.

In order to be eligible for this funding, Individuals requesting grant funds must be able to provide documentation to verify the following criteria:

• Diagnosis of a developmental disability

• Currently living in a community setting or planning to live in a community setting

• Have a Financial Need (copy of Medicaid, Waiver, SSI funding or Personal Tax

Return)

• Invoice or price quote for the exact amount of the item requested. If funding is awarded, checks will not be issued to individual applicants; funds will be issued directly to the manufacturer/store/landlord etc. for the requested items.

Applications without requested documentation will not be considered for funding.

Application Deadlines are:

August 1st 2010

October 1st 2010

December 1st 2010

Applications will be reviewed by a committee and awardees will be notified (via email or phone) no later than:

September 15th

November 15th

January 15th
